Temporary Resident Visa (TRV) Renewal[/color]
[b][color=#0000FF]While studying in Canada you must renew your TRV outside the country. You can renew your TRV in your home country or at any designated Canadian Consulate in the United States; however, ISES highly recommends that you use the Canadian Consulate in New York, NY.

It is essential to carefully read the Applying for a Temporary Resident Visa Outside Canada Guide (IMM 5256) to ensure you complete all the required forms and provie the necessary supporting documentation:
Complete Application Packages include (but are not limited to):
* Application Form (IMM 5257)
* Document Checklist (IMM 5484)
* Valid Passport (original)
* Passport photos @ 2 (see IMM 5256 for specifications)
* Valid Study Permit (photocopy)
* Proof of financial support (see p. 5 of IMM 5256)
* Transcript (original from the Registrar's Office)
* Confirmation of Enrolment Letter from:
» Registrar's Office (Undergraduate Students)
» Faculty of Graduate Studies (Graduate Students)

Study Permit Renewal From Inside Canada
All instructions and application forms are available online.
1. What documents do I need to send to extend my Study Permit?
• Completed Application (IMM 1249)
• Completed Check List (IMM 5555)
• $125 Payment Receipt (IMM 5401)
• Proof of Funds (bank statements, funding letters, etc.)
• Photocopy of original acceptance letter (proof of your length of program) or a Confirmation Letter from the Registrar’s Office or Faculty of Graduate Studies (if you are a graduate student)
• Photocopy of current study permit
• Photocopy of passport including copies of all pages that have been stamped
• Dalhousie transcript (printed copy from Dal Online is acceptable)
2. What is the cost?
The fee is $125 to renew a Study Permit.
There are two methods of payment:
1. Complete the “Payer Information” on form IMM 5401 (available in ISES office or it can be ordered on the Citizenship & Immigration Canada (CIC) website. Scroll to the bottom of the page and select “order an original receipt”). Take the receipt and your payment to a financial institution where you can make your payment. They will stamp the form. Include Copy 2 with your completed application.
2. You can also make your payment on the CIC website with a credit card (Visa, MasterCard or American Express) at [url]www.cic.gc.ca[/url] and select “On-Line Services” from the menu bar at the top, then “Payment of fees using the Internet”. Print the CIC official receipt and fill in the Payer Information Section. Then attach the bottom portion (Copy 2) of this receipt to your completed application.
3. Where do I send the application?
Mail your completed application and required documents by ExpressPost (so you have proof of the date you sent your application) to:
