POSITION: Accountant Manager

EMPLOYMENT TYPE: Full Time position available at our Pitt Meadows location in British Columbia

COMPANY HISTORY: Founded in 1988, Montair was established with the goal of training future professional pilots to a skill and knowledge level that would allow them to serve the airline industry with minimal further training required. Due to strong demand for skilled airline pilots from China's rapidly growing aviation industry,the company took a new direction in 2005. Montair was and continues to be one of the few schools around the world to receive approval from the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) to train airline pilots. The company has developed an advanced airline training program, designed to provide the most professional, highly skilled pilots to the airlines. To date, Montair has trained and graduated hundreds of airline pilots, a number that continues to grow.

JOB DESCRIPTION: As our Finance Manager at Montair Aviation you will support our long term strategic and business planning processes. You will work to create and evaluate capital investment plans and strategies that align with Montair’s business objectives. Specifically, you will be responsible for the following areas:

 Oversee the operational budgeting and forecasting processes and provide complete and accurate financial information to the Executives and Board Members

 Be able to analyze financial data in order to prepare draft departmental budget reports and present to the Department Heads.

 Work with the Executives to ensure accurate analysis of monthly and annual financial operatingstatements reporting (including variance and trend analysis) to the Executive Director and the Board Members

 Oversee all accounting functions including maintenance of the general ledger, accounts payable,accounts receivable and payroll, including timesheet verification

 Develop, implement, and ensure compliance with internal financial and accounting policies, procedures and controls for cash management, accounts payable, accounts receivable, credit control, and petty cash

 Oversee the management of all leases, contracts and other financial commitments with vendors, partners, etc.

 Responsible for customs clearance

 Manage and oversee Montair’s financial and accounting systems maintaining full and accurate accounting records with effective record retention of accounting documents

 Organize current expense tracking, coding and allocations in order to provide meaningful data to department heads and Board members

 Manage and oversee the acquisition of capital assets and ensure that assets are properly secured, recorded, remunerated, and disposed of as appropriate

 Ensure that all statutory filings are timely and accurate i.e. payroll source deductions and other payroll related remittances

 Responsible for preparation of tuition tax reports

 Bank reconciliation on Montair and affiliated companies bank account

 Reconcile intercompany accounts

 Ensure expense reports are approved by the Department Head

 Verify and approve time sheets and time clock entries to present to payroll (semi-monthly)  Prepare the TD1 for all companies.

 Be able to oversee multi companies accounting records.

 Manage petty cash  Ensure coding of A/P invoices to proper department

 Work with the Executive Director and the Executives in Montair’s strategic and financial planning

 Identify and monitor financial trends that support or hinder our strategic directions

 Work with the Executives in the development and presentation of the annual operating budget for the Board of Directors with robust and independent analysis of the budget in order to help the Board in making an informed decision

 Participate in Board Meetings

 Assist the Executives with financial reporting as required for Board Meetings

 Negotiate with Bank for lines of credit or other financial services as required and appropriate

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

o CPA required

o 5 years financial management experience including budget preparation, financial forecasts and financial reporting

o Previous experience in a business development or management consulting role is considered an asset

o Extremely proficient in all modules of Simply Accounting

o Strategic thinker with superior analytical skills and problem solving abilities

o Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing

o Ability to balance multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment with multi locations

o Ability to work both independently and as part of a team o Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications

o Impeccable attention to detail

o Solid understanding of the Canada Labour Code

o Knowledge of financial and management accounting principles

o Candidates must be highly motivated and results driven with a strong desire and ability to be forward thinking, improving the current process.

o Must be willing to learn the industry in order to provide meaningful strategic suggestions to the Board

o Be familiar working in multi-currency transactions

o Fluency in English and Mandarin
